Beyond Behavior: Understanding ADHD in African American Males

This course is designed for social workers, counselors, educators, school personnel, behavioral health professionals, and other helping professionals who support African American males with ADHD-related concerns. Professionals outside social work should confirm continuing education acceptance with their licensing or credentialing board.

You will learn to recognize ADHD-related patterns, distinguish observation from interpretation, contribute to culturally responsive identification and assessment, consider trauma and co-occurring conditions, engage families, and apply practical interventions. The course concludes with the S.I.N.G.L.E.T.O.N. Model™ for integrating these concepts into professional practice.

ADHD-related behaviors in African American males may be misunderstood or overlooked when professionals do not adequately consider cultural context, bias, trauma, environmental demands, and systemic factors. This course helps professionals move from assumptions toward more thoughtful, equitable, and individualized responses.

Complete all required course modules, earn at least 80% on the 20-question Final Knowledge Assessment, submit the required Course Evaluation, and reach 100% course completion. Your certificate will be issued only after all requirements are completed.
